October 2018 is European Cyber Security Month.

This is why, with The Thinking Clouds, we created an awareness campaign on the correct use of IT tools.

One of the most interesting topics in cybersecurity is social engineering , a set of manipulation techniques used to obtain information from people. In our case, we'll see how curiosity and a thirst for knowledge can lead a person to fall victim to cyber fraud.

It's impossible to estimate the damage resulting from such an attack; just consider that your data could be encrypted with a password that you won't be able to easily crack without paying a ransom.

The first tool we'll discuss is baiting , which involves using a Trojan horse to lure a person. A storage device, such as a USB stick or hard drive, is left unattended in a common area to pique the victim's curiosity, who is likely to take it (thus appealing to desire and greed).

The tool can then be used on the system the attacker works on, allowing them to access personal data much more easily and demanding a ransom to regain access to the computer.

Here's the first episode of Are You Sure?, titled "Whoever Keeps Their Own Data..."

Well, fill in the rest of the sentence yourself!
