Case study for museums, villages and cultural sites
From Genius Loci to totems: a distributed museum that answers, guides and engages
T-Alento brings to the historic village of Casal Velino a replicable model for museums, archaeological parks, cultural foundations and municipalities that want to turn archives, artworks and local memory into a tangible digital visit. The project is not limited to publishing content: it builds a cultural mediation system where every point along the route can become a narrative threshold.
Genius Loci are at the heart of the experience. They are not simple chatbots, but conversational characters rooted in places: guardians of the washhouse, the square, the landscape, food traditions, memory and family routes. Each Genius Loci has tone, expertise, historical context and a visitor-facing role, so the public can ask natural questions and receive answers coherent with the territory.
For museum professionals, T-Alento shows how distributed heritage can become searchable, queryable and updatable: app, kids web app, totems, info point and back office work together to distribute content, design routes, support accessibility and open new ways to relate to visitors, schools and families.
What the system includes
Conversational Genius Loci
Narrative AI assistants that give voice to places, artworks, traditions and characters in the village. Useful for museum visits, outdoor routes, education and territorial storytelling.
Multimedia totems in the village
Three physical touchpoints for welcome, art and territory: always-on content, visitor orientation and continuity between urban space and the digital platform.
Info point and kids experience
A equipped physical space with hardware, lighting and content designed for children and families, with games, narrative maps and micro interactive experiences.
Apps and web apps for heritage
Applications to browse artworks, routes, practical points, producers, itineraries and visit content before, during and after the on-site experience.
Why it matters for museums and cultural operators
T-Alento is a concrete reference for teams seeking museum digitization, AI-powered cultural mediation, conversational visitor experience and interactive totems for museums, villages and heritage sites.
